Well the biggest change to happen this month i that Mama went back to school (sad face) and you've been home with Papi all day. So now that you're 10 months old, what have you been up to?
- eating: you are definitely a more enthuiastic eater these days. Now you eagerly await each spoonful of oatmeal or yogurt with your mouth open wide like a baby bird! Besides those two things, you mostly feed yourself. you eat whatever we eat (steak, pasta, meatballs, eggs, raisings, garlic bread-your favourite!, chicken, pork chops, fish, apples, bananas, oranges, strawberries and blueberries). You also drink water from a straw sippy cup, and you've had *some* breastmilk and cow's milk from it too.
- you've stood on your own a couple of times, and the proud look on your face was absolutely priceless! When Omi and Grampy were here they even had you 'walking' between them (more like stumbling, but still amazing!)
- you walk more and more on your own. We barely have to hold your fingers at all anymore! you can also walk with us holding only one of your fingers, and you can bend down and pick things up and then keep going!
- you climb the stairs with speed and ease. kinda scary!
- you 'talk'. it's your own language, but it is still clearly talking. i've deciphered most of your grunts, calls, and exclamations. you also use your 'pointing' skill to tell us that you want to go see something, go outside, want some water, or even just to show us something (like airplanes in the sky and photos on the walls!)
- you have 3 tiny teeth. the first one actually broke the skin a few days after your 10 month birthday, and the other two have been in the last week. you look so cute! but you're a bit more fussy than usual though.
- you ALWAYS want to go outside. you walk us over to the door and then ask to be picked up and eagerly wait for us to take you out! you can throw quite the tantrum when we don't take you.
- speaking of tantrums, you are a kid who knows exactly what he wants, and you want it NOW. when you get mad, you throw your head back and make the cutest mad face, and then cry.
- when we take you to the park, you can practically climb up the play structure all by yourself! you love crawling around inside of it and when we take you down the slide!
- you still play 'tag' with us, and laugh like crazy when we catch you.
- you are still a social butterfly, clearly flirting with all the girls, playing coy and winning everyone over with your beautiful eyes and smile!
- however, you have definitely become more clingy to Mama... i love it at the end of the day, you are soooo happy to see me it melts my heart! but... you won't let me go after that! it's definitely difficult to get any schoolwork or studying done :(
So I've completed two full weeks of school, and all seems to be going well. I pump every day at lunch (in a handicap shower... ew! so be very grateful to my level of commitment ok?). I don't manage to pump much volume, but you don't even drink it all the next day. I really hope the little bit of milk you DO drink plus all the food you eat is keeping you from starving all day without me. I miss you sooo much when I'm at school and I think about you all day long. I've showed some of my classmates your picture and they think you are super gorgeous - which you are of course! Monday we are bringing you to a pediatrician for the first time since you were four months old... so we'll find out if you are still on track for growth (and possible a needle or two!). Well, that's about all I can think of for now...
