DISCLAIMER: none of these photos were taken by me. These are the profesional photos from True Colors Photography, Negril Jamaica, and they did a fabulous job!

I didn't have my camera in Jamaica, so I used Grandpa and Oma's, but I don't have the photos here with me in Mexico. So those will all be posted later! Here is just a taste of our Jamaica trip...

Que Pasa Calabasa? 6 Months

So now that you are HALF A YEAR OLD (oh my God!), what have you been up to?
  • Sitting up - for real now! without supporting yourself with your hands! you can even regain your balance if you start to tip. you are also starting to use your arms to catch yourself from falling.
  • Crawling (almost!) - you can get to the crawl position from a sitting position. once in crawl position, you kind of rock back and forth a few times then launch yourself towards whatever it is that is interesting you. if I put my arm or leg behind your feet, you use it to push off of.
  • Pulling up - you can pull up to a standing position from sitting using my hands (and I don't help you one bit I swear!). I'm going to see if you can do it with an inanimate object.
  • Making noises - you still squeal, giggle, laugh, and babble a ton. You also play 'the coughing game' with me. You'll make a cough sound, then look at me, so I mimic you. And the cycle repeats! You've got quite the sense of humour ;)
  • Reaching for mama - when you're tired, hungry, or upset, you cry 'mamamama' and reach for me from whomever's arms you are in. I hate seeing you sad but my heart leaps when you do this!!!
  • Eating - wow child have you changed in the past month! Since we left the US, you've been able to eat anywhere, anytime, no matter what distractions were around. For example... in a room with a loud tv, in a room with many people talking, in the Toronto airport, on an airplane, on a bus, in a restaurant in Jamaica, on a beach lounger in Jamaica, at Rick's Cafe in Jamaica, on the roof of a sailboat in the Carribean sea, and in front of plenty of strangers. Also, since we're going to do 'Baby-led solids' with you, we've started giving you big chunks of canteloupe, honeydew, broccoli, hard rolls or breadsticks, and I've even let you suck on an apple! You seems to enjoy it all, though you're just licking and sucking rather than eating.
  • Sleeping - we have zero night problems anymore. You fall asleep easily while nursing, and when you're done I can just roll you off and you stay asleep. You still wake up sometimes to eat during the night but that doesn't bother me because neither of us fully wake up for that! You still nap with me while nursing. You definitely fall asleep easier for your nap, but for some reason if I try the nighttime 'roll you off' trick, you instantly wake up. Sigh.
  • Laughing - you laugh a lot now! But it's never usually the same things that will set you off. Sometimes I can tickle your feet, or your armpit, or whisper in your ear/neck, or sometimes even just look at you! You also have this funny frantic laugh when you know I'm getting ready to feed you (ie. unhooking nursing bra and lifting my shirt) that continues for the first minute or so of feeding. It makes my day when you're eating and looking up at me, smiling and laughing like you're the happiest kid ever and it's because of me!
  • Growing - due to moving, I haven't weighed you in over a month! But the last time I weighed you you were about 18.5 pounds. I'd say you must be close to 20? Also, you seem really tall. Like the size of a one year old. Everybody's surprised you're so young. Also, now that we're in Mexico, you're especially gigantor compared to these teeny tiny babies. I'm so proud that I'm responsible for all this growth!
  • Traveling - kid, you've got more stamps on your passport than you know what to do with! Well, actually you've only got Jamaica and Mexico, but you've also been to the US and Canada. That's double my country quota at that age! You were AWESOME on the plane. I was needlessly worried. When you felt the G-force of take-off you started LAUGHING! You cried for like 30 seconds total. On the way back you slept the ENTIRE 4 hour flight! Then, I was worried about flying alone with you to Mexico, especially because we had two flights with a layover. But once again, you slept the whole flight for both flights. Everyone was so shocked about how awesome you were.
  • Being charming - ok child you were famous in Jamaica. Workers, guests, everybody knew you and asked where you were when you weren't around! You even got a little girlfriend named Maya from the UK hehe
  • Being stunningly gorgeous - I don't even think I'm biased when I say you are THE most beautiful baby on the planet! Seriously I could get you into baby commercials and ads and start a little college fund for you. So many times on our trip to Jamaica I heard people whisper "Oh my God that's the cutest baby I've ever seen!". I am one proud Mama.
  • Jumping - and I almost forgot your favourite activity - jumping! In your jolly jumper or with someone supporting your hands you are a jumping fiend. It's super cute and you are soooo strong!
Hope I haven't forgotten anything... you're up to a lot of things these days. I love you so much sweet boy! xoxo
