So the next little while is going to be super busy for us. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to post... but once things settle back down you are going to be bombarded with photos from our adventures!!! Here's a little pic I snapped of the Easter Bunny last Sunday ;)

Oma and Auntie Nikki Visit!

My mom and Nikki came to visit this weekend, to allow Rudy and I to get some packing done without entertaining the little guy 24/7. Well, they mostly just wanted to hang with Max, but it did help us out! Note the wall of moving boxes in some of the photos. I can't believe we're leaving in 4 days. I've been here for EIGHT years! It's going to feel soooo weird. But also AMAZING. We all miss you, but we'll be seeing you very very soon woo hoo!

Que Pasa Calabasa? 5 Months

So now that you are 5 months old, what have you been up to???
  • growing - you are now over 18 lbs and over 27"!!!
  • teething - you are a drooly, hand-eating mess! But we got you an amber teething necklace and that seems to have helped. You also love to gnaw on Sophie and your Nuby teething ring.
  • talking - you are quite the chatterbox. You squeal, yell, babble, whine, sing, and have started making consonant sounds, like 'wahwahwah', 'bahbahbah' and 'mahmahmah' (my personal fav).
  • sitting up - you can sit up by yourself for a couple of minutes now, although I hover around you like a crazy person. You still have to support yourself with your hands though.
  • rolling over - you CAN do it, both ways, you just don't very often.
  • standing/walking - it's all you EVER want to do. My arms are going to be Rambo-sized by the time you can do these things without us supporting you!
  • being coy - when you sit on my lap during video-chats with Oma and Grandpa, you tilt your head back to look up at me for a smile and a kiss every few minutes. You also do this in the bath when we sit you up for splash-time.
  • sleeping (sort of, well, not really)- boy, you fight sleep like it's Lord Voldemort and you're Harry Potter. Currently, the only way you fall asleep is by nursing, and often even that's a struggle. Your naps consist of you eating till you fall asleep on my chest. If I try to put you down, you instantly wake up. I promise you, one day when you're older you're going to wish you could take three naps a day!
  • eating - you still eat quite often during the day, and still a few times at night. I totally understand why so many moms quit breastfeeding. It is hands-down by far the absolute most challenging thing I've ever done. Every time one issue gets solved, new ones present themselves. Of all the presents you'll ever receive from me, nursing you will be my greatest gift.
  • being a furnace - you are seriously hot ALL THE TIME. We keep the place 65F at night and you still only sleep in a onesie and kick off any/all blankets. Meanwhile Daddy's huddled under 2 blankets. Your head sweats when you eat like crazy. You make me hot just holding you. I don't know how we're going to survive the summer!
  • pooping - good news... you're down to pooping only once every 2-3 days! And you no longer shart! Sometimes it's even a silent surprise.
Everyone who meets you falls in love with you. You are smiley and happy most of the time. But nobody loves you more than me!

A Beautiful Day in the Park

Max and I met some other mommies at a park today. We were there for 2.5 hours. It was his first time at a playground and we had so much fun! Max sat on my lap for a big-boy swing, and then tried out the baby swings and loved it! He also slid down some slides on my lap, came with me on a merry-go-round, and hung out on a blanket in the grass. I really need to get him some sunglasses and sunscreen for next time! I am sooo looking forward to this summer and lots of swimming, parks, and outdoors.

Max Says 'Mama'!!!

Well, sort of. Close enough for this proud mama! Yesterday, at 5 months and 1 day, while traipsing around Walmart, I noticed Max silently opening and closing his mouth, not unlike a fish out of water trying to breathe. A few minutes later he started making accompanying noises that sounded like 'mamamamama'. He's been doing it NON-STOP ever since, especially when he's whining. But you know what? It makes whiny babies a whole lot more fun when they're calling your name ;). Anyway, here's the proof:

Paper Mama Photo Challenge: Black and White

This week's challenge theme over at Paper Mama is 'black and white'. I decided to use a photo of Max that I took for Simplicity's online photography class. Well, I included two extra just because I'm obsessed with his squishy face! I'm *slowly* developing some editing skills (anyone wanna buy me Photoshop for my bday???) and figuring out how to use my nifty camera... I'm having so much fun!!!

Online Photography Class

Here are some assignments for my online photography class. Aside from the top pair, the images on the left of a series is SOOC (straight out of camera) and the others are different edits. I'm learning a lot about photography and of course I have the best subject in the world... I love snapping photos of my little man!

Rubber Ducky, You're the One

Have you ever seen a more beautiful baby in a bathtub???

Moving ugh!

Chaos reigns in our home... but all for a good cause I guess!
